Stormgate Ranking System Explained
Stormgate has introduced a robust and competitive ranking system that lets players compete and improve their skills. Go against players of similar levels to improve your skill and rise through the ranks.
Overview of the Ranking System
The Stormgate ranking system is designed to be both challenging and rewarding, offering players a clear path to track their progress. The system is divided into several leagues, each with its own set of ranks that players must climb through by earning MMR (Matchmaking Rating). As you win matches and improve your performance, you'll earn MMR and advance through the ranks.
The leagues in Stormgate are as follows:
Aspirant
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Platinum
Diamond
Master
Points Versus Matchmaking Rating (MMR)
The points and MMR systems are slightly tied together but represent different things. An easy way to look at it is that your ladder points represent the highest rating you've gotten whereas MMR is where you currently are.
If you are looking to progress your skill, MMR is definitely the number you need to look at. Your ladder points cannot progress past your current MMR rank, meaning if you have more points than MMR, you will not gain points. Plus, your MMR will tell you more accurately what your skill level is at that exact moment, which is much more useful when trying to improve
Path to Mastery
Stormgate requires you to climb through every rank to progress, so there will be no skipping leagues as you may be able to do in other real-time strategy games. In order to progress through the ranking system, you will need to earn points from playing matches. You will earn points rapidly if your MMR is much higher than your current point total, but you will earn 0 points if your MMR is lower than your point total.
Let's break down the Points & MMR thresholds for each rank:
Master 1: 2023 Points
Master 2: 1936 Points
Master 3: 1885 Points
Diamond 1: 1758 Points
Diamond 2: 1689 Points
Diamond 3: 1640 Points
Platinum 1: 1599 Points
Platinum 2: 1563 Points
Platinum 3: 1529 Points
Gold 1: 1500 Points
Gold 2: 1471 Points
Gold 3: 1441 Points
Silver 1: 1409 Points
Silver 2: 1373 Points
Silver 3: 1332 Points
Bronze 1: 1280 Points
Bronze 2: 1242 Points
Bronze 3: 1166 Points
Aspirant 1: 1115 Points
Aspirant 2: 1028 Points
Aspirant 3: 0 Points
Where Do Players Start?
All players will initially be in aspirant league with an MMR of 1500. This puts you in the lowest rank by points, but around Gold by MMR. This can be quite a high MMR, especially for a brand new player, so don't be discouraged if you feel like your opponents out match you at first. Your MMR will adjust quickly based on how you perform, and in our experience you will start playing people your own skill level within 3-5 matches.
